Max Martin’s 10 years old - Trial with Villa and Shrewsbury Town

At just 10 years old, Max Martin is already making waves in the football world as a prolific striker. Playing in the highly competitive Midlands Junior Premier League (MJPL), Max’s goal-scoring record is nothing short of remarkable, with 18 goals in just seven games this season. His talent and dedication have not gone unnoticed, with Max having previously trained at various academies before settling into his current team, where he continues to hone his skills and thrive in a competitive environment.
Football has always been a central part of Max’s life, but his journey took an exciting turn when he decided to attend UK Football Trials. The trials offered a unique opportunity to showcase his abilities in front of multiple scouts in one place. “I came because there were 10-15 scouts all in one location,” Max explained, highlighting the importance of such exposure for young players hoping to take the next step in their careers.
Max’s performance at the UK Football Trials was exceptional, catching the attention of scouts from both Aston Villa and Shrewsbury Town. Shortly after the trials, he received calls from both clubs, inviting him to attend further trials with them. For Max, this was the moment he had been working towards—a chance to prove himself at a higher level.
His journey with Aston Villa began with a three-week trial, during which he had the opportunity to train at their community centre alongside other talented players. His strong performances earned him an extended eight-week trial, a testament to his potential and determination to succeed. “To have more belief in my own ability… the fact I got scouted increased my confidence levels,” Max shared.
The trial experience wasn’t without its challenges. Max encountered players of varying skill levels, which pushed him to adapt and improve. “There were some great players to test my own abilities and push myself upwards,” he said, reflecting on how the competitive environment motivated him to grow.
Max’s family has been a constant source of support throughout his football journey. They were impressed by the professionalism of UK Football Trials, describing it as “very well organised, with clear instructions and no false promises.” The trials not only provided Max with the opportunity to be scouted but also offered a taste of what it’s like to play at an academy level, preparing him for the challenges ahead.
