Driven by his ambition to take his game to the next level, Lucas decided to attend UK Football Trials. “I wanted to see if I was ready to progress and play at a higher level,” Lucas shared. “Seeing young talents being scouted and making the next step inspired me to give it a go.” The experience would prove to be a transformative one. 

On the day of the trial, Lucas was introduced to a professional training environment designed to showcase his abilities. The session began with a simple warm-up to avoid injury, followed by ball mastery and 1v1 drills. “It was great to sharpen my skills and show my creativity in tight spaces,” Lucas explained. The session then progressed to 2v2 games with goalkeepers, a fast-paced drill that tested his quick decision-making. To conclude, participants were placed into teams for a full match. 

For Lucas, the match was the highlight of the day. Not only did he score two goals, but he also demonstrated his ability to control the tempo of the game and contribute defensively when needed. “Scoring two goals was my best moment,” Lucas recalled. “It felt amazing to contribute to my team and showcase my skills under pressure.” 

The trial wasn’t just about impressing scouts—it was also a valuable learning experience. “I learned how to perform under pressure with scouts watching,” Lucas reflected. “It’s not easy, but staying focused and confident helped me a lot.” His composure and determination paid off, as he was approached by three scouts following the trial. One of them, from QPR, offered Lucas a six-week trial—a pivotal moment in his football journey. 

“The opportunity with QPR is amazing,” Lucas said. “It’s a chance to reach academy level and continue developing as a player.” For now, Lucas is preparing to give his best at the trial, eager to make the most of this exciting opportunity. 

When asked if he would recommend UK Football Trials, Lucas was quick to respond. “Absolutely. It’s a great way to show your skills in front of top scouts. Even if you don’t get scouted, the advice and feedback you get is invaluable.” 

Lucas’s story is one of ambition and perseverance. With his sights set on academy football, he’s ready to embrace the challenges ahead and take the next big step in his football journey.
