Hugo Cuatrecasas - 11 Year Old Scouted by QPR

Hugo’s footballing journey began at a young age, playing for Bourne End Juniors and Maidenhead United during his U6-U8 years. His natural ability on the pitch quickly caught attention, and he signed with Aldershot Town FC Academy, where he played at U9 and U10 levels. Now, he’s a key player for Forza Elite Reading (U11) in the Junior Premier League (JPL), representing Reading City with pride and ambition.
Despite his impressive background, Hugo recognised the importance of seeking out opportunities to challenge himself further. That’s when UK Football Trials came into the picture. A recommendation from a school friend initially introduced him to the platform, and having attended before, Hugo knew it was the right environment to showcase his talent and learn valuable skills.
Hugo’s decision proved fruitful when he was scouted by Queens Park Rangers (QPR) at a UK Football Trials event. Following his standout performance, his father received an email from a QPR scout inviting Hugo to a 4-6 week trial at the QPR Development Centre. This trial takes place at the renowned QPR Training Ground, providing Hugo with the perfect stage to prove himself.
Reflecting on his trial so far, Hugo shares that the experience has been both enjoyable and educational. “I’ve played the first two weeks, and I’ve really enjoyed it while learning a lot,” he says. The sessions have been intense and engaging, with quick drills and excellent coaching that push him to improve.
One of the key lessons Hugo has taken from his UK Football Trials experience is the importance of scanning the pitch, even when it seems unnecessary. “Always scan, even if you think no other player is there,” he emphasises. This valuable insight has already helped him elevate his decision-making and awareness during games.
Hugo recalls his best moment at the UK Football Trials with pride. “Dribbling through five people and then scoring top right corner,” he says with a smile. This moment not only highlighted his technical ability but also his composure under pressure, qualities that undoubtedly caught the attention of the QPR scout.
When asked why he would recommend UK Football Trials, Hugo is unequivocal in his praise. “Yes, because you’ll never know if you might get scouted or learn some key information to take into your game,” he says. The trials provide a unique opportunity to connect with scouts from top academies while gaining valuable feedback to improve as a player.
As Hugo continues his trial at QPR, he remains focused and optimistic. With at least two more sessions to go, he’s eager to receive feedback from the coaches and hopes for a positive outcome. Regardless of the result, Hugo’s journey is already an inspiring example of how hard work and taking chances can lead to remarkable opportunities.
