Aiden Abdullah: 14 Year Old Scouted by Chelsea and QPR

At just 14 years old, Aiden Abdullah is proving to be a versatile and dynamic player, excelling both as a wing-back and a central defensive midfielder. His impressive skills and determination have earned him the attention of scouts from two major clubs—Chelsea and QPR—through his participation in UK Football Trials.
Aiden’s football journey began at the age of five, and he has consistently shown his passion and commitment to the game ever since. Over the years, he has developed his skills by playing at various competitive levels. Currently, he represents teams in the Kent Youth League (KYL), Junior Premier League (JPL), and the JPL Representative Team. In addition, he is an integral part of his school team. This wide range of experience has helped him adapt to different playing styles and build a strong foundation in both defensive and attacking aspects of the game.
“I wanted to challenge myself and see how I measured up against top players,” Aiden explained when asked why he decided to attend UK Football Trials. Having seen the programme online, he was drawn to the opportunity of showcasing his abilities in front of professional scouts.
The trial itself was a valuable experience for Aiden. The session was designed to test players across various aspects of their game, including tactical understanding, technical ability, and decision-making under pressure. “The drills were intense and well-structured,” Aiden shared. “We worked on different phases of play and finished with matches, which gave everyone a chance to show what they could do.”
For Aiden, the highlight of the trial was representing Chelsea in a showcase game. “Playing in front of a big crowd and scouts was an amazing experience,” he said. His ability to stay composed under pressure and perform at a high level during the showcase left a lasting impression on those watching.
Aiden’s time at UK Football Trials wasn’t just about impressing scouts; it was also a learning experience. “I learned a lot about what scouts are looking for in a player, especially in my positions,” he said. “It also gave me insight into the standard of academy-level players, which was very motivating.”
Following the trial, Aiden was contacted by scouts from Chelsea and QPR, who invited him to attend trials with their respective clubs. The trials lasted 12 weeks, during which Aiden had the opportunity to work on various phases of play each week, culminating in competitive matches. “The sessions were really enjoyable and pushed me to improve,” he recalled.
When asked if he would recommend UK Football Trials to other players, Aiden was enthusiastic in his response. “Absolutely. It’s a great opportunity to be seen by scouts from professional clubs and to test yourself against other talented players,” he said.
Currently, Aiden is awaiting further feedback from the clubs, but he remains optimistic about the future. “I’m excited to see what’s next,” he said. With his talent, work ethic, and determination, Aiden is undoubtedly on the right path to achieving his football dreams.
