For 15-year-old Dominion, football has always been a way of life. Having grown up playing in Italy, he was part of many different teams but never had the opportunity to join an academy. When he moved to the UK, he continued his football journey by joining Leigh Genesis, a Sunday league team, but despite playing for two years, no clubs showed interest in him. 

Determined to take his football career to the next level, Dominion attended UK Football Trials. His perseverance paid off when he was scouted by Macclesfield FC and also offered a trial at Oldham Athletic. 

“I was really excited when I found out I was scouted,” Dominion said. “UK Football Trials told me the scout was interested, and I got in contact with them. They invited me to train with the youth team at Macclesfield, and then I got interest from Oldham as well. They also offered me a training session, which I’ll be attending."

Having two opportunities on the table, Dominion is currently considering his options but is leaning toward Oldham due to its proximity to where he lives. 

Looking back on his UK Football Trials experience, Dominion believes it taught him an important lesson: “To never give up on your dream and keep grinding. I saw how motivated everyone was, and that made me even hungrier to get scouted.” 

His journey to success wasn’t immediate. He attended UK Football Trials three times before finally securing his breakthrough. 

“The first time, I didn’t get any interest from clubs. The second time, I got a trial with Altrincham FC Academy, but unfortunately, I wasn’t offered anything. But I didn’t give up—I went back again and now I’ve been scouted by Macclesfield and have a trial at Oldham coming up. If you believe in yourself and keep going, you can get there.” 

Dominion encourages other aspiring footballers to attend UK Football Trials. 

“Absolutely, if you are a talented player and you want to show your skills, this is the best place for you. UK Football Trials gives you that exposure to clubs that you might not get anywhere else.” 

As he prepares for his trial at Oldham, Dominion remains focused and excited about the opportunity ahead. 

“I’m still waiting for the trial, but I can’t wait! This could be a big step for me.” 

With his dedication and determination, Dominion is proof that persistence and belief can lead to life-changing opportunities in football. His journey is still unfolding, but one thing is clear—he’s on the right path to making his dreams a reality.
