Shahm Alshelh 14-year-old Trial with Stevenage

Shahm Alshelh 14-year-old Trial with Stevenage

Shahm Alshelh, a 14-year-old striker, is currently on the cusp of a breakthrough, with just one more session left in his four-week trial at Stevenage FC.

His football journey began at the age of three, and he’s never looked back.

“I’ve played at Chelsea in the advanced level for two years,” Shahm explains. “But I wanted more development and a fresh challenge, so I moved to Fulham for a year in the performance level.”

Eager to grow his game, Shahm is now playing for The Eight FC and Brentford at a performance level — and has been with both for the past two years.

When Shahm attended his UK Football Trials event, his talent immediately stood out. Shortly afterwards, he was invited to trial at Stevenage FC.

“They asked me to come in for four weeks. The trial’s been going really well. From the first session, the coach remembered my name and told me I was doing very well — that I play very good football.”

The recognition hasn’t stopped there. Shahm was even asked to play in a half-term fixture against Brentford, a clear sign of the club’s interest in his ability.

One final trial session remains — and if all goes well, he could be stepping into the next chapter of his football journey.

Looking back at the trial with UK Football Trials, Shahm says the experience helped him grasp a deeper tactical awareness:

“You always have to be on the move — even if you don’t get the ball, you create space for your teammates.”

He recalls two moments from the trial that stood out for him:

“The first was during a passing drill where we had to shoot into the side netting — I hit it first time with my weaker foot, off the post and in. No one else had managed that.”

“The second was a counter attack — I ran with the ball, nutmegged one defender, beat another down the line and squared it to the edge of the box. Unfortunately, it wasn’t finished — but the build-up was special.”

Shahm discovered UK Football Trials through Facebook, and it turned out to be the perfect platform for him.

I’d definitely recommend it. There are so many opportunities to be scouted, and even if you don’t get picked, you’ll come away having learned something new.”

His current coach has already offered valuable feedback, describing Shahm as a very technical player.

With one more trial match left and the coaching staff already impressed, Shahm’s future is firmly in his own hands.

“It’s been a great experience — and I’m ready to keep pushing forward.”
