Archie’s football story began in the highly competitive Selkent ‘A’ League, where he represented both Dulwich Village and Dynamo Youth from Under 7 to Under 12. These formative years were vital in teaching him the fundamentals of the game in a demanding, fast-paced environment where only the most committed young players thrive. It was here that Archie began to stand out for his defensive awareness, athleticism and composure on the ball. 

Seeking to push himself even further, Archie then progressed to the Junior Premier League (JPL), joining G4 Academy for Under 13 and Under 14 football. The JPL is known for its high level of competition and focus on developing players in a way that mirrors the professional academy system. It offered Archie the chance to test himself every week against talented opponents and to develop his game both technically and tactically. 

But Archie’s ambition and family’s support meant his development wasn’t limited to England. He took part in pre-season training camps with Cedar Stars Academy in New Jersey, USA, from Under 12 through to Under 14. This international experience gave him exposure to different coaching styles and playing philosophies, helping him become a more adaptable, rounded player. 

Back in England, Archie’s talent also earned him invitations to Crystal Palace Development, Tottenham Development, and even Tottenham Elite Development programmes. These experiences brought him into contact with top-level coaches and facilities, and gave him a real taste of what life at a professional academy is like. Each session and showcase demanded the very best of him, and he thrived on the challenge. 

Wanting one more opportunity to be seen by scouts, Archie signed up for UK Football Trials after spotting them on Instagram. He was impressed by the professional set-up and the fact it offered a genuine chance to perform in front of scouts from numerous professional and semi-professional clubs in one place. 

It turned out to be an excellent decision. Reflecting on the trial, Archie says it taught him to be “comfortable in being uncomfortable,” a crucial lesson for any player hoping to reach academy level. Facing unfamiliar teammates, new coaches and the pressure of being watched by scouts, Archie embraced the challenge rather than shying away from it. 

A standout moment for him was when he was invited to play up a year during the showcase, a clear sign that coaches had seen something special in his performances. That moment boosted his confidence and validated all the work he’d put in. 

The best outcome of all came soon after. Once UK Football Trials informed him he’d been scouted, Archie and his family were contacted directly by Charlton Athletic. The professional club has now invited him for a trial, which he is currently awaiting. It’s a fantastic next step and a deserved reward for years of dedication and ambition. 

Asked if he’d recommend UK Football Trials to other players, Archie is unequivocal: “Yes, legit and professional outfit.” He knows it was the perfect platform for him to get noticed and to demonstrate his abilities in front of the right people. 

For now, Archie is focused on preparing for his trial at Charlton, knowing that it’s a huge opportunity to take the next step in his footballing journey. With his background of competitive grassroots, JPL football, elite development centres and even international training experience, he’s well placed to make the most of it.
