Maxwell – 10 Years Old – Scouted by Manchester United

At just 10 years old, Maxwell is already making waves in his football journey. A right winger with confidence, pace, and an eye for goal, he has taken the first big step towards his dream after being scouted by none other than Manchester United. Maxwell first began his football journey at seven years old when he joined a local grassroots club in Oldham. From the start, he was eager to challenge himself, often playing a year up against older boys. While this presented a tougher test physically and mentally, it was an experience that made him stronger. “Playing with a year older has really helped me build my confidence,” he explained. Despite his performances, he hadn’t yet had the chance to be scouted during grassroots matches. That changed when he decided to push for more.

“One day I told my dad that I was ready to go for a trial,” Maxwell said. His confidence was rewarded when his parents brought him to a UK Football Trials event. It proved to be the turning point he needed.

His talent caught the attention of Manchester United scouts on the day, and shortly afterwards, UK Football Trials confirmed the exciting news. “Once UK Football Trials sent an email that I was scouted, I was so happy and it was a step in the right direction,” he recalled. “After about 3 or 4 weeks, I was invited by Manchester United to play a match with other boys at Carrington United training ground.”

Carrington, United’s world-class training base, provided the perfect stage for Maxwell to showcase his ability. He embraced the moment and left his mark. “The best moment of my trial was when I scored a beautiful goal,” he said proudly. That strike not only boosted his confidence but also reinforced that he belonged at that level.

Reflecting on the UK Football Trials event, Maxwell spoke about how much the day meant to him. “I feel so emotional to have been selected during my trials event,” he admitted. “Meeting other boys and playing in such a competitive match was so amazing.” The experience wasn’t just about football — it was about proving to himself that he could step up on a bigger stage.

When asked what he learned from the trial, Maxwell was clear. “I wanted to advance in my football career and to have the opportunity to show my football,” he explained. For him, UK Football Trials provided that chance. It was a stepping stone to one of the biggest academies in world football.

Would he recommend the experience to others? Absolutely. “Yes definitely,” he said. “It was so organised.” For young players like Maxwell, the structured environment, the high-quality coaching, and the chance to play in front of professional scouts made the experience unforgettable.

Now, Maxwell is awaiting the outcome of his trial with Manchester United. “I was told that in 3 weeks I will receive feedback,” he explained. Until then, he remains optimistic and positive. “I am very much positive that I will be selected.”

Whatever happens next, Maxwell’s journey so far is already a huge achievement. To have scored at Carrington and been scouted by Manchester United at just 10 years old is proof of his ability and potential. His courage to step forward, his willingness to play above his age group, and his determination to take every chance make him one to watch in the coming years.
