Euan McEvoy-Folland – 19 Years Old – Scouted by Daisy Hill Football Club 

At 19 years old, striker Euan McEvoy-Folland has already experienced a football journey that has taken him across continents, from competing in Australia’s National Premier League system to now making his mark in the UK with Daisy Hill Football Club. His story is one of ambition, sacrifice, and the determination to place himself in environments where he could be seen and given opportunities to progress. 

Euan’s background in football began back home in Australia. “I played in Australia in NPL 3 until I turned 18,” he explained. Competing at this level gave him the foundation of competitive football, sharpening his skills as a striker and allowing him to develop the work ethic that has now carried him forward. His decision to pursue football more seriously then took him overseas. “I then moved to Scotland to play for The Spartans FC,” he said, showing a willingness to challenge himself in new environments and keep raising his standard. 

Like many ambitious players, Euan knew that visibility and exposure were key if he was to keep progressing. That is what led him to UK Football Trials, where scouts from multiple clubs are in attendance and opportunities can arise in a single session. For Euan, the chance was invaluable, and he made the most of it. 

“When I was told I’d been scouted, I went in for training and had some trials,” he recalled. The experience allowed him to showcase not only his ability but also his determination to push himself and adapt quickly to new settings. 

He soon had the chance to join Daisy Hill FC for training and impressed straight away. “I went in and joined in with training with them, I then trained well and was selected for the squad,” he explained. For any young player, being chosen to join a team after impressing in training is a huge moment, and for Euan it was proof that his decision to put himself forward at UK Football Trials was paying off. 

Reflecting on what the trials taught him, Euan’s takeaway is simple but powerful: “That it’s possible if you put yourself in positions to be scouted.” Many talented players go unseen because they don’t take that chance, but Euan’s story shows that by stepping into the right environment, doors can open. 

His standout memory from the trial was equally meaningful. “Getting approached by clubs and also getting an opportunity to play in front of high profile scouts,” he said. Those moments confirm to a player that their ability has been noticed and that they are on the right track. 

When asked why he decided to attend UK Football Trials, Euan’s answer shows his clear focus: “I wanted to try and get myself into a position to be seen by good English clubs.” That clarity of purpose is something all aspiring footballers can learn from — knowing what you want and being prepared to work for it. 

Euan is also quick to recommend the experience to others. “Yes, I think it’s a good opportunity to test yourself, to see what level you are at,” he said. For him, it wasn’t just about being scouted — it was also about measuring himself against other talented players, learning from top-level coaching, and growing in confidence. 

Now, as part of the Daisy Hill squad, Euan continues to develop and show his qualities as a No.9. His story highlights the value of resilience, travel, and putting yourself in the right places to be seen. From Australia’s NPL, to Scotland with Spartans FC, and now in England with Daisy Hill, Euan’s journey is proof that hard work, belief, and seizing opportunities can open pathways at every step.
