Oscar – 12 Years Old – Scouted by Hull City & Chelsea
At just 12 years old, Oscar is already showing the qualities of a determined and disciplined young goalkeeper. His football journey is marked not only by talent but also by a strong commitment to training and development, with support from his family playing a central role in his progress. Recently scouted by both Hull City and Chelsea, Oscar’s story is one of dedication, patience, and passion for the game.

Oscar currently plays for North Weald Raiders, where he is the first-choice goalkeeper for his team. His development has been shaped by a balanced training routine that goes beyond just football. During the week, Oscar trains regularly and takes part in additional one-on-one goalkeeper sessions with his dad, helping him refine the technical aspects of his game. He also engages in other physical activities with his mum, including badminton, to keep his fitness levels high and improve agility. This varied approach has given Oscar a well-rounded physical foundation and taught him the importance of commitment both on and off the pitch.

He has also made the most of every chance to attend UK Football Trials, taking part during half-term breaks to maximise opportunities. “I have been going to the trials during my half terms as a chance of being scouted and I feel like I am on the right pathway now,” Oscar explained. “All the hard work feels like it is paying off.”

That hard work was rewarded when scouts from Hull City and Chelsea noticed his performances. For Oscar and his family, it was a moment of pride and celebration. “I celebrated with family as this is what I’ve been working for,” he said. Being recognised by two such established clubs is a huge milestone for any young player, and it has strengthened his determination to keep improving.

Currently, Oscar is awaiting trial dates with both Hull and Chelsea, and while the wait is challenging, he is staying grounded by continuing with his training and matches for his grassroots side. “I am awaiting my trial at Chelsea and Hull. Currently I am continuing with my training and matches with my current team as football is my passion,” he explained. That word — passion — comes up again and again when Oscar talks about football. His love for the game is evident in everything he does.

From his UK Football Trials experience, Oscar says he has learned important lessons about mindset and attitude. “I have learnt patience and increased my love and joy for the sport,” he reflected. For him, every part of the experience has been rewarding: “All of it. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of football and feeling a part of something is wonderful.”

When asked why he chose to attend UK Football Trials, Oscar gave a clear answer: “I heard how good they were and it’s an extra opportunity to learn and show off my skills.” He also has no hesitation in recommending the platform to other young players: “Yes, because even if you don’t get scouted, it’s more practice and more football play.”

For now, Oscar is eagerly and patiently awaiting his trial dates with Hull City and Chelsea. With his strong training habits, supportive family, and love for football, he has already shown the qualities that professional clubs value. His story highlights the importance of resilience and dedication, and with his next steps just around the corner, Oscar Flight looks set to continue his promising journey in football.
