Saif – 15 Years Old – Signed for Altrincham 

At just 15 years old, Saif has taken a big step forward in his football journey by signing and now playing for Altrincham, following a successful trial after being scouted. A direct and exciting winger, Saif’s story reflects steady grassroots development, patience, and the importance of being ready when opportunity arrives. 

Saif’s football journey began in the grassroots game, where he built his foundations playing Sunday league football. Over time, he represented several teams including C&G, Chaddy FC, and Heyside, gaining valuable match experience and learning how to adapt to different environments and styles of play. These years were crucial in shaping his confidence on the ball and his understanding of the game. 

The turning point came when a scout reached out after noticing his potential. Saif and his family shared video clips of his performances, which led to an invitation to attend a training session with Altrincham. It was an opportunity Saif knew he had to take seriously. 

During the session, Saif impressed the coaching staff with his attitude and ability. The club liked what they saw and, after the session, asked him to sign. That moment marked a significant milestone, turning years of grassroots football into a pathway within a structured club environment. 

Reflecting on what he learned through the process, Saif highlighted the importance of performing under pressure. Trial environments can be intense, but they offer a clear insight into what is required to progress. The professional setup and “nice facilities” also stood out, reinforcing the step up from grassroots football. 

Saif chose to pursue this route for one clear reason: the chance to be scouted. The experience proved to be legitimate and worthwhile, providing real exposure and a genuine opportunity to progress. 

Now signed in and actively playing for Altrincham, Saif is focused on continuing his development, learning from coaches, and pushing himself to improve every time he steps onto the pitch. His journey shows that consistent effort at grassroots level, combined with the courage to take opportunities when they come, can open the door to the next stage.
