Joshua – 15 Years Old – Attacking Midfielder (No.10) | Academy Offer from Weston-super-Mare

At 15 years old, Joshua has already experienced the highs and challenges that come with chasing opportunities at the next level. After attending UK Football Trials in both Cardiff and London, Joshua received interest from multiple clubs — including Potters Bar Town, Forest Green Rovers, Weston-super-MarePenybont, and Cambrian Clydach — with Weston-super-Mare offering him a place within their academy.

Joshua’s journey began in South Wales.

“I started playing for Briton Ferry Academy in South Wales,” he explained. He now represents Llanelli Town Academy, continuing to develop as a creative number 10.

Following his performances at UK Football Trials, Joshua was contacted by several clubs.

“I had offers from all the clubs mentioned,” he said. “Weston-super-Mare offered me a position within their academy.”

He decided to decline interest from the Welsh clubs, as he was already playing within a Welsh academy setup. However, one situation stood out as particularly frustrating.

“Forest Green Rovers offered me a trial but unfortunately declined letting me trial because they said I lived too far away. That was extremely disappointing as my parents were willing to travel and that was the club I wanted.”

Despite that setback, Joshua attended multiple sessions with Weston-super-Mare — and impressed.

“I went a few times and was offered a position within their academy,” he said.

Reflecting on what he learned from the UK Football Trials experience, Joshua spoke with confidence.

“That I’m more than good enough to be at a professional club.”

For him, the best moment was simple but powerful.

“Being scouted.”

It validated his belief in his own ability and proved that his performances were being noticed.

Joshua attended UK Football Trials because he wanted bigger opportunities.

“Opportunities in a bigger club,” he explained — clear and direct about his ambitions.

Would he recommend it to other players?

Yes I would. Because if you’re good enough, you will be seen.”
