Harry – 11 Years Old – Midfielder/Winger | On Trial with West Bromwich Albion
At just 11 years old, Harry is already taking important steps in his football journey, earning an opportunity to trial with West Bromwich Albion after impressing at UK Football Trials.
Harry is currently playing for Kidderminster Harriers, where he continues to develop his game as a midfielder and winger. His performances at club level, combined with his attitude and willingness to learn, have helped him progress and prepare for higher-level opportunities.
Looking to challenge himself further, Harry attended a UK Football Trials event at Tamworth FC, where he had the chance to showcase his ability in front of professional scouts.
The impact was immediate.
“The scout contacted us about a week after the trial,” his father explained. “You guys were great with putting us in touch.”
Following that contact, Harry was invited into a six-week trial with West Bromwich Albion, and is currently in his second week — an exciting opportunity to train and compete within a professional academy environment.
The experience has already provided valuable learning.
“We learned what areas needed development, but it was put across in a really positive way.”
That kind of feedback is key at this stage, helping players improve while maintaining confidence and motivation.
One of the standout moments for Harry came when the scout approached him directly — a moment that reinforced his performance and effort on the day.
“When the scout started talking to Harry.”
His family also highlighted the support he received during the trial process, particularly from staff involved.
“It’s important to point out that Harry had a lot of support from Luke Astley, who really helped him through the trial — we are so grateful.”
That level of support is often what allows players to relax and perform at their best in what can be a high-pressure environment.
Reflecting on UK Football Trials as a whole, the feedback was extremely positive.
“They are the best — the staff are super supportive.”
And when asked if they would recommend the experience:
“Definitely — they help you relax, do your best, and support you through a challenging trial to get the best feedback and result.”
Harry is now continuing his trial, with a review expected in the coming weeks as the club assesses his progress.
