Kye – 15 Years Old – Attacking Midfielder Scouted by Bromley
Kye first started playing football at the age of four and quickly began attracting attention. Through grassroots football, he was scouted by several major clubs, including West Ham United, Arsenal, Charlton Athletic, and Chelsea, spending time within a number of development environments during his early years.
However, the intensity of academy football at such a young age eventually became overwhelming.
“I was tired and burnt out,” Kye explained.
After being released by Charlton and Chelsea at U7 level, his family made the decision to step away from the constant academy schedule and allow him to simply enjoy football again. That decision proved important for both his confidence and long-term development.
Kye continued progressing through grassroots football with several clubs, including Rippleway FC, Silk FC, and later May & Baker FC in the EJA League. Along the way, he experienced difficult moments outside his control, with multiple teams folding or facing instability.
Despite these setbacks, Kye never lost his love for football.
Now playing for Bealonians FC, his confidence has returned strongly. As team captain, he has helped lead his side to a cup final that will be played in a stadium — a moment he and his teammates are eagerly looking forward to.
“I still have so much love for the game, and it shows in my play.”
Looking to push himself further and gain opportunities beyond grassroots football, Kye attended multiple UK Football Trials events, including:
Aveley FC – August 2022
Lakeside – February 2026
Cray Wanderers – April 2026
Across those events, his performances attracted attention from several clubs and development pathways, including Charlton Athletic, Aveley PDA, and Bromley FC.
“With Charlton, I am still there training with their elite squad every week and sometimes matches.”
That ongoing involvement has given Kye valuable exposure to a higher level of football and continued development opportunities.
He has also impressed within the Aveley PDA environment, where coaches invited him to play in games and tournaments with their post-16 squad.
“The coach was very impressed and believes I have a great chance of getting a scholarship.”
Because Kye is currently only in Year 10, the official scholarship recruitment process will begin later this year, with further trials planned in November.
Meanwhile, Bromley FC invited him into a Talent ID fixture, although on that occasion the club decided he was not the right fit for what they were looking for at the time — another reminder of how subjective football pathways can be.
Importantly, Kye has learned to handle both opportunities and disappointments maturely.
“I’ve learned the hard work involved to be seen and that not all clubs and scouts are looking for the same things within a player.”
For Kye, one of the standout parts of UK Football Trials was the intensity and challenge of the sessions.
“I loved the training drills, being pushed and tested, and the hard work.”
The motivation behind attending was simple:
“Opportunities that I can’t get just playing with my club alone.”
That mindset has clearly paid off, with Kye now involved in elite training environments again and moving closer toward scholarship opportunities.
