UK Football Trials Feature In Daily Telegraph’s Special Report
UK Football Trials were interviewed by the Daily Telegraph for their Sport front page “Special Report” on the rise of rogue agents (now called Intermediaries). Director Harry explained how the trials days have seen an increase in the number of new FA Intermediaries bringing players to trials many of whom are just regular people with normal jobs. Director Jim talked about how he has become an Intermediary and realised he needed to get expert legal advice on how the industry worked before he would be able to properly advise parents and players.
Both Jim and Harry agreed that it was a dangerous situation for players at first contract stage to have Intermediaries trying to negotiate with clubs when they have little or no knowledge or experience. The article gave examples of new Intermediaries ruining their player’s chances by making unrealistic wage demands and many others trying to blag it when talking to players and clubs. The UK Football Trials team alongside David Hobson, plan to launch their own agency in the near future which will be able to represent and advise players (and their parents) scouted at our trials.
Director Jim said,"It's an honour for our company to be featured in one of The Daily Telegraph's "Special Reports". We have almost 50,000 players registered to us so we are very aware on the issues young players face when signing contracts. We were delighted to be asked to comment on this important issue and be able to get across how crucial it is to advise young players and their parents properly. Hopefully the agency we launch later this year, will mean that we can ensure that we can guide young footballers in the correct way and avoid many of the serious problems highlighted in the article."
