Matt Roberts, aged 15, has agreed terms with semi pro club Farnborough Town FC, after being spotted at our trial in February this year. The striker has an incredible goal scoring record including 52 goals in 21 appearance for his local side East Lodge, where Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward came through the ranks.

Matt went in on trial with Farnborough around one week after his UK Football Trial in West London and has impressed during his spell with the Isthmian League Premier Division club. His Dad, Nick, said: "They've verbally offered him place and he's likely to join up in September, signing on for 2 years."

The scholarship at Farnborough will see Matt complete the Extended Diploma in Sport, whilst also training and playing primarily for the academy. He will be training on Monday's and Tuesday's, before playing games every Wednesday.

Matt, who played for Portsmouth's Development side as a 9-year-old, heard of our football trials through a friend and his Dad said: "Matt was really pleased with the trial, he enjoyed it and took a lot from the experience. From a parents point of view, there were lots of emails before the football trial to help him prepare and they really helped.

"He received individual grading on his game and the thing he came out on top of was his attitude which I was really happy about and I think a lot of that is because of how UK Football Trials prepared him for the trial and the advice they gave."
