Australian Playmaker Spends Week with Bournemouth Academy
UK Football Trials player Stavros Tserpes has been in on trial with Premier League club Bournemouth AFC and is also being by monitored by Leicester and Coventry City.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who originates from Australia, has attended two trials with us in the last year at Birmingham and London and received interest on both occasions.
Earlier this month Stavros spent a week training with Bournemouth's u18's and featured in a match against Wimbledon, coming off the bench for the final 20 minutes.
"After arranging it with the scout I was initially just meant to go in for a couple of days but they were impressed with me and asked me to stay on for the full week," said Stavros.
"We did a lot of drills and tactical work and I really feel I took a lot from it, it was an amazing experience and I have only good things to say about the club."
The word from the club was that they liked Stavros and were impressed with what they saw, but signing him would have stunted the growth of a current player in his position, who has already received praise from First Team Manager Eddie Howe.
Stavros explained: "Unfortunately it was just one of those things but I really enjoyed it and the scout is still trying to sort me out with another club for pre-season. In the mean time Coventry have watched me a couple of times recently for Brookhouse College and I know there's an opportunity with Leicester as well, so we'll see what happens."
After a year and a half living in the UK, Stavros finishes his Education in the next few weeks and will be looking for a full-time football contract next season.
Speaking about his UK Football Trials, he said: "Both of my trials were really good, there's plenty of scouts and it's a really good chance for players - all you need to do is show your ability and you'll get picked up. The feedback at the end of session was really helpful and I went away knowing what I had to work on and improve."
