Joseph, 11, attended our UK Football Trial at Barking Abbey School at the beginning of June and was quickly invited in for a training session with the Crystal Palace academy.

The athletic left-back, who can also operate at left-midfield, was unlucky not to get signed by Tottenham Hotspur at a trial in the past and now hopes that this opportunity will prove to be more fruitful.

“The trial with Palace all went well and he really enjoyed it,” said his parent.

“The boys didn’t do too much as it was the last session of the season so they did a few drills and 7-a-side which was a good way for him to ease himself in.

“It was a bit difficult not knowing anyone but I think he slotted in well and they all made him feel welcome.”

They added: “We’re not really sure where it goes from here but we’ll just wait and see what they say. We’ll keep going whatever and hopefully find something for him.”

The Premier League Scout, Jamahl, indicated that Joseph will likely be invited back in for a showcase game in pre-season.

Jamahl said: “When I saw Joseph at the trial his ball retention was good, he kept the ball and played it simple. He displayed good vision and can find a pass.

“There was a few passes that he did when he came in that caught they eye, I think the feeling was just that it would good to see him express himself a bit more, so we’ll probably get him back in for a showcase game in pre-season and see how he gets on.”

Joseph also had his details requested by Reading after an impressive trial in Essex: updates on his progress will be added to the website as we get them.
