Former Arsenal Starlet Set for Six-Week-Trial with Reading
Alex Munroe, 10, is set to start his six-week-trial with Championship side Reading FC on Sunday after being spotted at our trial earlier this year.
He will spend his summer at the academy, training with the u11's and also getting chances in friendlies over pre-season.
Alex, who can play on the wing or in midfield and stands at 5 foot 2', attended our trial in London in April this year and after impressing on the day, received news of Reading's interest the following week.
However, the club chose to wait to invite him in for a trial as the season was drawing to a close and they felt introducing him in pre-season would be more beneficial.
His Dad, Russell, said: "Since he came to UK Football Trials he's been ecstatic, he's a very confident player but the process has pushed him to the next level of football.
"He can't wait to get going with Reading now."
This high level of football won't come as a shock to Alex - he spent time with Arsenal's Development Centre in his early days and is currently at the pre-academy stage with Luton Town where he captains his age group. He has also gained experience internationally, playing in two tournaments in the Netherlands, winning once.
Russell went on: "Alex has taken on board things from the coaches and the website, the preparation that was sent to us from UK Football Trials was brilliant - it was a real asset to him on the day. He knew what the scouts wanted to see and how to prepare mentally.
"The feedback he got from the coaches on the day was really helpful to his game, they made him fell welcome and he was allowed to just enjoy his football. I've been around football my whole life and honestly, the UK Football Trials setup was second to none, even better than club trials we've been too.
"I've already recommended it to other players that I know."
