Midfielder Impressing on Trial with League 2 Academy
Guelor Kasongo, 14, is currently impressing on trial with Accrington Stanley's academy following a strong showing at a UK Football Trial in May.
The combative central midfielder attended our football trial in Leeds at the end of the season and did enough to catch the eye of three clubs on the day, with Accrington being the first club to make a move for his services.
Guelor has spent the last three weeks on trial with the League 2 side - who narrowly missed out on promotion through the playoffs last season - and he is set to continue at the academy for a further six weeks before a decision is made.
Speaking about his trial, Guelor said: "It's been really good, there's a few of us from UK Football Trials in at Accrington Stanley at the moment, so I know a few of the boys which helps.
"I'm just hoping to get settled here at the club and make it as a pro. For me, the UK Football Trials were enjoyable, simple and effective."
He added: "It allows you to showcase your talents, the scouts are there looking at you and it makes you step up a level."
The opportunity at Accrington came from his coach on the day, Andy Smith, who works as a coach in the clubs academy and was impressed enough to invite Guelor in for a trial.
Speaking about what impressed him, Andy described: "He's a really powerful lad with great feet, a calm temperament and is good on the ball. He's as good as what we've got in the academy, if not better, so we've got high hopes for him."
