Ferdinand, is 6ft 2", fast, strong and powerful and plays predominantly as a striker. Always a handful for defenders, he has recently returned from a trial with Reading, in which tome he trained with u21 and First Team players.

His time with the academy included three pre-season friendlies, in which time he managed to score one goal.

Speaking abput his trial with the Championship club, Ferdinand said: "It was a good experience for me, the whole set up was very professional.

"The first week I was training with the u21's, but a lot of the first team joined in and we all trained together so I got to play with some excellent professionals. The feedback I  got from the u21's coach was very good and I was very pleased and proud about that."

He added: "It was difficult for me because I'm at the age now where I have to be playing at first team level, so they're judging me against proven Championship Strikers, but also this was the biggest club I've ever trained with so I still took a lot from the whole experience."

James Price, who works for UK Football Trials and 1 Football Agecy, is the intermediary who represented Ferdinand during his trial.

Speaking about the opportunity he said: "Ferdinand had a great time at Reading preseason; it’s a superb set up and the club looked after him fantastically well. He played in 3 friendly matches, scoring an excellent goal in one and causing problems with his power and pace against Lincoln.

"However, with the new Manager (Japp Stam) coming in he was invited to continue training but was not offered a contract."

Ferdinand is still looking for an opportunity at a pro club for the coming season, so anyone who is interested in the former FK Spartaks Jurmala player - a team in the Latvian Higher League can contact UK Football Trials.

James said: "If any clubs are interested in looking at Ferdinand, contact us at UK Football Trials as we have not committed his future to anyone yet for the coming season so do get in touch."
