Caleb St Luce, 16, attended Leatherhead’s training ground last week for a trial with the semi-pro club, after being scouted at a UK Football Trial in West London.
Impressing in both the training session and in the trial game, Caleb caught the attention of scout Anton Smith, who proceeded to arrange his trial with the Ryman League side.
Caleb’s Mother, Annette, said: "We received an email inviting us in for a trial on Monday, a couple of weeks after we attended the trial.
"We were shown around the facility and had a bit of a taster of what it would be like, a couple of hours in the classroom and a couple of hours on the pitch in the afternoon."
She added: "It’s still early day yet but the training was good. Obviously he’s happy that he was scouted and has received some interest, that means he did well on the trial and noticed.
"He was happy with the UK Football Trial, it was the second time he’d been and he definitely did better than the first time around. The feedback he got from the first time helped and he knew what to expect as well."
Speaking about Caleb and what caight his eye, Anton (Leatherhead scout) explained: "He showed a great attitude on and off the pitch and that's something we look for in our academy. His abilities were noticeable too and we needed someone with his attributes in our squad, so hopefully the trial goes well and things can progress quickly."
