Tennant's Talent Secures Accrington Stanley Trial
Charlie Tennant, 15, is currently on trial with League 2 side Accrington Stanley following an impressive display at a recent UK Football Trial event.
The winger caught the eye during his 3-hour-session at Stockport Sports Village, impressing initially in the training session before an efficient outing in the trial match.
One scout who took immediate action was Dave Bailey of Accrington Stanley, who quickly arranged a trial and has already given Charlie his opportunity.
Charlie, who spent a year with a Manchester City Centre in 2013, has taken part in several training sessions and also featured in a game for the u16’s.
Julie, Charlie’s Mum, revealed how he’s adapting to life at Accrington and what he thought of the UK Football Trial experience.
“He’s enjoying it at the club and really likes the level of the players he’s playing with,” she said.
“One of his teammates from his local side, Lewis Morgans, has just signed with Accrington as well so that’s helped Charlie settle in a bit, having a friendly face around.
“We just need to see where it’s going at this stage and we will see what happens. You have to take all of what’s happening as a positive, though – it’s a great experience for him no matter what happens.”
Julie added: “The UK Football Trial was really good, it allows the players to show their talents and if Charlie wasn’t there, the scout would never have seen him.
“You don’t get very many scouts at grass roots level and he could tell the difference straight away when he went back to his local side.”
Dave Bailey, Accrington Stanley scout, gave an update on Charlie’s progress.
“He is doing ok. He’s put in a few solid performances so far and has played in a game with the rest of the lads where he did well. “
