West Ham Recall Teenage Winger for Third Look

A 13-year-old winger has been invited back for a third session with West Ham after initially being scouted at our event in Februar

Michael Ngoka, of Irish-Nigerian descent, was seen at our Essex trial earlier this year and was almost immediately taken into West Ham’s Talent ID Centre for a further look.

After impressing during his first two training sessions, the club opted to give Michael another session this coming Monday, where they hope a decision will be made.

The West Ham scout who spotted Michael on the day has revealed what exactly caught his eye and made him follow up his interest.

“Michael is a very technical player with a lot of strength,” he said.

“He’s good on the ball and is naturally creative.”

He added: “Michael has done well with us on the two sessions we’ve had him, he played against a pro club last week and he did well.

“He will be coming back in for another session and we will go from there.”

The promising winger is currently living in England, having moved to Buckswood School in September, for whom he is currently the second top scorer this season.

Despite having no previous trial experience, Michael performed very well in his UK Football Trial event and his Mum told us it was a “very enjoyable experience.”

“He was happy with the UK Football Trial,” said Chidi, “It was a good standard and the coaching was very helpful for him.”

She added: “I think he was a bit nervous at first with all the scouts there watching him but he settled down a bit once the game started, you just have to get on with it.

“Overall it was a very enjoyable experience for him.”

We wish Michael and his family good luck on Monday (13th March) when he continues his trial with West Ham and will continue to bring you updates on his progress as we get them.
