Third Time Lucky for Anmol as Playmaker Secures Six-Week-Trial with Charlton Athletic
League One side Charlton Athletic could be set to make an exciting new addition to their academy after taking 15-year-old Anmol Gil on trial.
The talented playmaker, who plays primarily in central-midfield, was selected by Charlton at our UK Football Trial event in West London this February.
An impressive performance that day led to scouts from Blackpool and Charlton inviting him in for a trial.
Anmol, who previously had a spell with Brentford’s Development Centre, opted for Charlton as the preferred choice, due to the location and the club also sitting a division higher in the football pyramid – although Blackpool still remains an option.
Tonight - Friday 17th March - will be Anmol’s third session with Charlton’s Development Side and his Dad Harry said "things are going well.”
He said: “Anmol’s been in for a couple of sessions already and it’s going well so far – he’s been training with the u16’s and has played in a couple of practise games too.
“He’s doing one session a week for six weeks and a decision will be made at the end of that, but the coaches have said he’s doing well.”
Harry added: “Generally he’s settled in to the pro environment really well, he hasn’t been fazed byth standard at all.”
The UK Football Trial in February was actually Anmol’s third time that he had attended one of our events and the second time he had been scouted.
Last year a scout from Dagenham and Redbridge requested Anmol’s details but before a trial could be organised the clubs academy closed down. Luckily for Anmol he persevered and this time got his reward.
Harry said: “I think coming to three trials has really helped him, he’s a lot more confident after coming back again and getting the feedback from the coaches, it’s definitely helped him improve.
“It’s a very professional setup and the talks at the start were so helpful – I’m very impressed. I would absolutely recommend UK Football Trials to other players like Anmol, it’s a great chance to get scouted.”
Anmol has another three weeks training with Charlton before a decision will be made and we will bring you updates on his progress as we get them.
