UK Football Trials regular Stavros Tserpes could be playing football in League 2 next season, following a string of impressive performances at UK Football Trials...

Since his first trial with us in early 2016, we have helped secure Stavros trials with Bournemouth, Acrrington Stanley and Reading, but his fourth trial, with Tranmere, looks as though it could be his last.

The central-midfielder, who originates from Australia, has spent three weeks training with the club who lie second in the National League and has settled in very well.

Stavros, 18, said: “It’s good, I went in for a week initially and at the end of it they said they liked me and talked about signing.

“They invited me to stay on training until the end of the season while things are sorted out so I’ve been training with the first team sine the beginning of March.”

He added: “It’s a good level and I think my time training with Accrington Stanley last year helped prepare me for it.

“Their style of play suits me and the players and managers are all nice guys.

“It’s been a frustrating few months trying to settle down at a club and it’s a bit of a relief to hear that Tranmere are interested in doing that; I’ll feel a lot better once I’ve signed.”

Stavros spent the four months training and playing with Accrington Stanley after he was scouted at our football trial earlier in 2016, and played in games against Barrow, Bury and Blackburn Rovers.

Tranmere presents him with a fresh challenge and with the team currently sitting second in the National League, he could well find himself playing in League 2 next season.

Speaking about his experience with UK Football Trials over the last year, Stavros said: "All of my trials have been really good, there's plenty of scouts and it's a really good chance for players - all you need to do is show your ability and you'll get picked up.

“I’ve personally had several opportunities with clubs through UK Football Trials.

“The feedback at the end of session was really helpful and I went away knowing what I had to work on and improve."

We wish Stavros all the very best for the rest of the season! And hope to bring you official confirmation of his signing in the next few months.
