12-year-old Goalkeeper Sam Hellawell came to our Manchester trial in April and was scouted by 5 pro clubs, one of those being Premier League side Burnley.

After an initial training session at Burnley's Academy, he's been invited to play in a game against Tranmere this Sunday.

Sam, who has only been playing football for five years, currently plays for Hepworth United Junior u12s and hasn't previously had any pro club experience.

His mother, Helen, said: "He enjoyed the UK Football Trial very much, this is his first trial with a pro club of any sort, but he's really enjoying it and semms to be doing well."

Burnley had identified Sam within minutes of the trial starting and they didn't waste any time in arranging his trial.

Tom Reeves, Head of Academy Recruitment at Burnley, revealed what stood out about the young 'keeper.

"I liked the look of him straight away," Tom explained, "Sam's a good size and shape, distributes the ball well, has great handling and made some excellent saves."

He added, "He's also a nice kid with a great attitude."

Sam will be training with Burnley for three weeks until the end of the season, where he'll be assessed ahead of pre-season.
