Aldershot Reserve Team Captain Adelowo Has Sights Set On First Team
Gabby, who plays as a centre-back or defensive midfielder, came to two UK Football Trials back in 2013 following his release from the QPR academy, where he spent 18 months. He impressed on both occasions and landed trials with Brentford, Crystal Palace and Stoke, for whom he played a trial match against Tottenham Hotspur. Unfortunately, nothing materialised with any of those clubs, but this summer he was invited to train with Aldershot Town u19’s and he now captains the side. Gabby, who stands at 6ft tall and weighs 12-and-a-half-stone, spoke of his ambition to become more involved with the first team. “It’s been fantastic from the off. I’m here full-time now, training four or five times a week and playing matches a couple of times a week too. I’m captain of the u19’s, effectively the reserves, and have had a few sessions with the first team – and personally my goal is to be in with them properly after Christmas. But for now my focus is the reserves and we’re doing well, we’re 4th in the league and have got a good squad.” Gabby still keeps in touch with the UK Football Trials team and described his experience with us as “very warm and welcoming.” “It was really good, the were very welcoming and I had a very good time,” he said, “They really helped me and took me down to Stoke and Palace, obviously unfortunately nothing came of it but I’m really grateful for the help they gave me and the way they helped my game.”
