Fenton Signs for Pro Futsal Club & Selected for England Futsal Trials
We are delighted to bring you an update on our player Elliott Fenton, who has signed for Manchester Futsal Club, a professional futsal team.
Elliott, 16, can play as a striker or an attacking midfielder and in May we brought you news that he was on trial with Accrington Stanley after he was scouted at our training and trials camp in April this year.
Now however, Elliott has put pen to paper with Manchester Futsal Club who play in the Futsal National League, where he’s playing with the u23’s Development Team.
On the back of a successful start to the season, including two goals and two assists last week, he is also set for a trial with England Futsal u19’s.
Elliott’s dad, John, who is an academy coach at Manchester City, said: “He’s loving it, he’s starting every game and playing well.
“He’s only 16 but is playing in an open age group so is coming up against grown men, but it’s not phased him and he’s doing unbelievably well – I’m really proud of him.”
Despite committing to futsal, Elliot is still playing 11-a-side when he can and occasionally turns out for Stalybridge Celtic’s Youth team.
Long term, Elliott has been offered a two-year-scholarship in America and that remains a serious option for the youngster going forward.
The decision must be made whether to pursue his chances in England and wait for an opportunity, or take on a new challenge in America and explore options to make it in the MLS.
But for now, his focus will remain on performing regularly for Manchester Futsal Club and shining at the England trials in the coming weeks.
