O'Regan Returns for Second Spell with Derby County

Earlier this year we brought you the news that Michael O’Regan had been invited for a trial with Derby County and Stoke City.

Now nearly six months on, Michael, who plays at centre-back, is set to return to Derby for another trial after months out through injury.

While on another trial with Stoke City this summer, Michael suffered concussion, which cut short his trial and ruled him out for several months.

Following his return to full fitness, Stoke invited the defender back to see out the rest of the trial.

Meanwhile Derby remained interested and left the door open for a potential return should Stoke let Michael go – and that’s exactly what happened.

His dad, Michael, explained: “Stoke decided that they didn’t want to offer him a scholarship in the end, which is fine, it’s been a great experience for him.

“But Derby were nice enough to wait for him and he starts there tomorrow training at the academy.”

Michael added: “He played in a couple of matches for Derby in August and got on well so he’s looking forward to going back. We’ve committed to Derby now and hopefully there’s an offer at the end of it.”

League two side Cheltenham Town have also spoken to Michael and expressed an interest in taking him on trial, should the opportunity arise in the future.
