The UK Football Trials team have landed in Melbourne, Australia, preparing to give players from the other side of the world the opportunity to make it in football.

Our team, made up of Welsh FA Coach Anthony Williams, ex-pro Ash Hopkins, Man United International Head Coach Robin Van der Laan, Premier League scout Mark Jaycocks and Sports Psychologist George Hardwick, touched down in Oz two days ago and have already got to work with the Australian players.

Director Harry Price, who has also travelled, gave his thoughts on the trip so far.

“We received a fantastic warm welcome to an outstanding setup for us at Sunbury United Football Club," Harry said.

"Thank you to Paul, Charlie and all the staff here for their hard work put in to get everything ready for us. Today the players worked with the outfield coaches on some fun ice breakers to get rid of the nerves and get the players introduced before looking at the players in dribbling, 1v1 attacking and defensive situations before moving into possession play and we then ended with matches for all the players."

He added: "The players displayed fantastic attitudes on day 1, all the UK Football Trials Australia coaches are very impressed with the start, the intensity starts to raise up anther level tomorrow. Well done to all the players, thank you to all the parents for making a big effort to make it to Melbourne for day 1 of the sell out senior outfield and goalkeeper trials.

"Finally a big thank you must go to Cameron and Paul for their hard work in helping to make this happen."

UK Football Trials will remain in Australia for another week, with the goal of finding players good enough to go into clubs either in Australia, or England.
