Goalkeeper on Trial for Derby County
Goalkeeper Charlie Cox has been training with Championship club, Derby County at their development classes each week since his Birmingham trial with us in February.
"When we saw him in Birmingham, his attitude and attention to what the coaches were saying really stood out for us," mentioned Chris Woodburn, UK Football Trial's operational manager.
He added: "Charlie was very confident in his ability but at the same time, was eager to learn more from our very well qualified and experienced coaches."
When we contacted Pete, Charlie's Father, for an update on how the 12-year-old was getting on, he told us, "Charlie's training once a week at the moment in the Goalkeeper development classes and really enjoying it – he’s learning lots.”
Many clubs like to do this with players to keep a close eye and watch the player’s progress. It gives the player some fantastic training and clubs feel these players have the potential to one day sign for the club.
Pete went on to say, "He really enjoys it at Derby. The coaching is excellent and the facilities are amazing."
When we asked him for feedback on how UK Football Trials has helped the family, Pete quoted, "Best of all the communication has been good from the start and this isn't always the way in football as you know.
“He had a great time at the UK Football Trial and I have no doubt we will attend again soon to open more doors for him in the future."
Good luck Charlie and best of luck from all of us at UK Football Trials.
