Sheffield United Take Brothers On Trial

Brothers Daniel and Micah Jebbison were scouted from our trial in Birmingham this April and were subsequently invited to play for Sheffield United.

Daniel, 14 and Micah, 16, attended our event last month with their older brother Jonathan and both of them were scouted by Championship side Sheffield United, who were one of several clubs watching on the day.

The pair were both invited to play in two academy matches shortly after the trial and a further decision was made from there based on their performances.

Ash Foyle, Sheffield United Head of Academy Recruitment, explained: “We sent a scout down to UK Football Trials and he was impressed with the two brothers so we got them in to the academy.

“After looking at them in a couple of games we decided that Micah wasn’t quite ready for this level - despite showing some good glimpses and he clearly had some pace - but we’ve signed the youngest one, Daniel, to a six-week-trial and he will be with the academy now until the end of the season and in pre-season.”

Ash continued: “He scored in his first game for us and played for the u15’s on Saturday too.

“In training he’s been looking good, physically he’s there and he’s good technically also.”

The trial with Sheffield United represents Daniel’s best chance to break in to a professional academy since his spell at Derby County in 2014, which ultimately proved unsuccessful.

The brothers’ dad, Patrick, revealed: “David is enjoying it and settling in well. We’ll see how it goes over the next few weeks but it’s been a great experience so far.”

UK Football Trials will stay in touch with Daniel and his brothers and bring your more updates on their futures as we get them.
