Midfielder, 12, Signs for Rotherham United Academy
12-year-old Rayhaan Khan has signed for Championship club Rotherham United after he was scouted from our trial in February.
We first saw Rayhaan, who plays in midfield, at our Manchester early in 2018 where an impressive performance led to five clubs requesting his details.
In recent months he has had trials with several clubs including Premier League side Burnley and an English club competing in this season’s Champions League.
His older brother, Kamran, told UK Football Trials exactly how the opportunity with Rotherham presented itself.
“They got in touch straight away after the UK Football Trial in February but it took a few months to arrange the details, which we know can happen,” explained Kamran.
“So in the meantime Rayhaan had a couple of trials with other teams who were interested too, but when we finally got the invitation from Rotherham we went in straight away.”
“It started off as a six-week-trial but they went on to sign him and he has been there for three months now – he’s playing well.
“They have tried him in a few positions and he’s got quite a lot of assists playing in midfield.”
Rayhaan has so far enjoyed run outs against the likes of Notts County, Bradford, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield, and is thriving in the ‘community feel’ at his new club.
“He’s been at a couple of teams recently on trial but as soon as he got to Rotherham he settled in straight away,” said Kamran.
“There is a strong community feel around the club and he is happy.”
Everyone at UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Rayhaan on signing for Rotherham and will be keeping an eye on his progress going forward.
