Portuguese winger Degol Antonio is on trial for two semi-pro clubs after he was scouted at our event in Hyde earlier this year.

Degol, 19, was one of around a hundred players who attended our trial at Hyde United in October, and he was one of the select group who had their details requested by scouts.

The first contact came from Hyde United themselves, who had scouts watching our trial on the day that we hired their ground.

“The guys at Hyde got in touch with me shortly after the UK Football Trials and said they wanted to have another look at me in the future,” Degol explained.

“But they said they wanted me to get some fitness and sharpness so they arranged for me to train with Abbey Hey for a few weeks first.

“I played 45 minutes in a friendly for them a couple of weeks ago against a team two leagues higher, we lost 1-0 but it’s good for me to get a run out and this is a good step to work towards Hyde United.”

Born in Portugal, Degol moved to England at just 4-years-old and has lived here ever since, always working towards his goal of becoming a footballer.

“I’ve never had any trials before I went to UK Football Trials and have since been at Hyde and Abbey Hey,” Degol revealed.

“I played for Manchester Counties a couple of years ago but that was it really.”

Degol added: “UK Football Trials was a good opportunity and it’s a place where people can get scouted out of nowhere, it’s a great experience.”

For now Degol continues to train with Abbey Hey ahead of his trial at Hyde United.

We wish Degol good luck for his upcoming trial.
