Canadian Midfielder Plays for Blackburn u18's
Blackburn Rovers have taken 16-year-old Razvan Simon on trial after scouting him from our event in October.
The central midfielder, who holds a dual Canadian and Romanian passport, was present at both our 5 Day Football Camp in August and our Manchester trial in October.
“I came from Canada to England just for the football camp,” Razvan revealed when we spoke to him in December.
“It was a really good experience and I learnt a lot at the camp.
“I was scouted but I kept training in Canada and decided to come back to England for another go and it paid off. I showed I had improved and was scouted by Blackburn.”
Razvan has since spent a week training with Blackburn’s u18’s and u16’s and even played against the u23’s in a friendly.
“It was quite physical and quicker than I was used to, I was a bit lost if I’m honest,” was the open response from Razvan when asked how he performed.
He continued: “It showed me what I have to get used to playing in England.
“But overall it’s been amazing, the academy, food, pitches, everything is top notch.”
Razvan is currently living in England after UK Football Schools helped place him into one of the top schools for football in the country.
“I spoke to Chris at UKFS and he helped find me a school here,” he explained.
“I’ve been in England for about two months now and the process was easy and quick for me to come here.
“It was hard at first to get used to being away from my family but I had to make sacrifices to follow my dream and it’s like a second home here now.”
Razvan wasn’t quite at the level required to get into a Championship academy, but they have arranged for him to pursue trials with other clubs when he returns from Canada where he will spend Christmas.
