Striker Turns Down Scholarship Opportunity
Elias, a former Wycombe Wanderers academy prospect, was invited in for a trial with Ryman League Premier Division side Farnborough FC after impressing at our West London trial in August. The striker scored in a 45 minute run-out for the u18's, before being offered a scholarship which he went on to refuse.
Elias said: "The trial went well, it was a good standard and a great club. The main factor was the education side, I'm looking to do A-levels and Farnborough couldn't offer me that in the scholarship. I'm thankful to the club for the offer and I respect it, it's just not right for me at this time." "I felt comfortable playing at that level, the whole setup was really good and helped me understand the level I need to be at and where I need to improve. From here I want to try to find a pro club and work my way up - I'm going to go to another trial with UK Football Trials to help me do this." "Until I can find a club I'm just doing work by myself and playing with an amateur club for match fitness. I'm doing anything from training, cycling, gym work or just doing headers in the garden with my dad. It all helps."
