Kyle van der Walt, who recently moved to the UK from South Africa, has been training with Rochdale FC after impressing at the Manchester trial in May. The 13-year-old striker, who played to a high level in South Africa, is also set for a week-long trial with Accrington Stanley in August.

Kyle’s favoured position is as a lone striker, although he can also play in the number 10 role or on either wing. He trains 5 times a week with various clubs and coaching academies. His Father said: “Kyle trains all the time, as much as he can. He goes running every morning and works a lot on core skills – he’s very committed. The trial was a lot of fun and he was really able to be himself. That’s one of the main things we took away from it, it was easy for him to settle quickly and he is able to express himself well – football is about having fun and he did that, it was fluid.”

"I’d definitely recommend UK Football Trials to other parents and players, everything was really easy and they gave us everything we needed. My main piece of advice would be to really take advantage of the emails they send you, they were so helpful."
