Lloyd Thompson, 16, has signed his first ever deal in football and committed his next 2 years to Farnborough Town FC.

The striker, who stands at 5 foot 4', attended our football trial in West London last month and after scoring twice in the trial match, caught the attention of the Farnborough scout on the day - a semi-pro club who play in the Southern League Division One Central.

Speaking about his first opportunity in the game, Lloyd said: "I'm really excited to get going, I can't wait for the season to start.

"I saw about UK Football Trials on instagram and followed them and had a look at the website. I saw what they did, I saw other players like me who had made it and I just wanted to make it as a semi-professional footballer, so I gave it a shot."

He added: "The football trial was excellent, from the coaches and scouts to the staff and facilities. Everything was laid out well, we had an A-Licence coach who was welcoming and friendly and the session was enjoyable."

After impressing in the assessment session and in the trial game, Lloyd was approached by the scout who proceeded to invite him in for a trial the next week.

Following a succesful trial, Lloyd was offered a place on the club's Level 3 BTEC course, which he will study alongside his training with the academy.

"It was a big decision for me to accept the offer," Lloyd explained, "All of my friends are going to college so I've had to leave that side of things behind and make a big sacrifice, but it's what I want to do.

"I'll be training with the rest of the 16-18 year-olds mainly, but I will have some chances to impress in the first team if I'm doing well."
