Former Norwich Pro Striker on Trial with Accrington Stanley
Former Norwich u21's striker Rod Young is currently on trial with League 2 side Accrington Stanley.
Rod, who signed a professional contract with the Canaries back in 2013, now finds himself hoping to earn another contract with Accrington, who reached the playoffs in League 2 last season.
He joined up with his perspective new team-mates this morning as he began his week-long stint with the first-team.
The opportunity arose for Rod after he attended various UK Football Trial events last season in a bid to get back into the game - and away from his part-time work as a shop assistant.
Rod said: "The training today was good, a few of the first-team boys are still away so I just met a few of them but it's good to get my feet under the table.
"It's a good club that looks like it's going places and I'm excited to potentially be a part of that."
As well as Norwich, the striker has enjoyed various spells at Exeter, MK Dons, Grays Athletic and Welling United. Rod now hopes to cement a place with Accrington for the coming season, and paid testimony to UK Football Trials Intermediary James Price who has looked after him for the last season.
"James has been great for me, really helpful and is always there for me if I need any advice. The whole setup is really professional and I think UK Football Trials is a great stepping stone for players to get them into the game.
"For me, my aim now is to push on from here and get regular game time in the football league, hopefully that can be with Accrington."
