Lewis, who plays as a central midfielder or central defender, has been offered the opportunity to spend the next year with Accrington Stanley u16's after he impressed on a trial with the club recently...

The versatile 15-year-old spent five years at Liverpool FC from 2007 - 20012, one year with Tranmere and has also had trials with Blackburn Rovers in his already impressive career.

After attending six UK Football Trials in the past 18 months, Lewis has received interest from a variety of clubs including Blackpool, Stoke and Burnley, with the latter sending their Head of Academy Recruitment to watch him play.

However, at the sixth time of asking he has finally managed to do enough to convice a club to offer him an opportunity.

Following another impressive showing at our Manchester trial in May, Lewis has spent the last month training with Accrington Stanley's academy and has been rewarded for his efforts with the offer to stay with the academy for the coming season.

David Bailey, the Accrington Stanley scout who spotted Lewis, revealed that Lewis has a good chance of securing a scholarship with the club next season.

"He stood out when I saw him at the trial," said Dave: "He fits the profile of what we're looking for at Accrington Stanley and he's done really well since he's been in with us."

He added: "Lewis has been training with the u16's and the u18's and has held his own. If he carries on the way he's going he's got a good chance of securing a scholarship next year, certainly."

A strong defensive midfielder, Lewis is equally strong playing in defence and has been praised for his composure on the ball. "He doesn't get flustered," said his Dad, "Because he's played in midfield, he can knock it around the back and play those passes."

"He's just buzzing with this chance and the training that he's had with Accrington has been of real quality. Each of the six UK Football Trials that he's attended was worth it, if you perform on the day then you'll get your chance."

Scout Dave Bailey will be returning to UK Football Trials in Stockport on Wednesday, August 24th, and said: "I'm looking forward to coming back to the August trials and hopefully finding some more Stanley Stars!"
