Former Arsenal and Crystal Palace player Jaydon Thorbourne set up two goals against a West Ham side this weekend whilst playing for semi-pro outfit United London FC and secures a contract with Hastings United FC

We brought you the news earlier in the year that Jaydon was on trial with National League side Woking FC and played in a trial match against Watford.

It was since decided that his best route would be to get back into academy football and work his way up through the ranks.

Jaydon, who is just 18 and plays as a left full-back, was picked up by Arsenal and spent four years with Arsenal’s academy, regularly training with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Thierry Henry.

He now finds himself playing for Hastings United who are currently 11th in the Ryman League, Division 1 South with a great chance to progress to bigger clubs if he continues to work hard and put together consistently good performances.

Jaydon has attended several UK Football Trials in recent months and has received interest from some top-end Championship clubs.

His Agent, Luke Hughes, who with fellow UK Football Trials Director and FA Registered Intermediary James Price, represents several UK Football Trials players, said: "He did well in the game, it's all about staying fit until we find a pro club for him.

"There's interest from several Championship and Football League clubs so we're just waiting to see what happens there, ideally he'd end up in the u23's at an academy somewhere. But for now it's important to get 90 minutes every week and stay match fit."

After being released from Arsenal, who felt he would have limited opportunities with Kieron Gibbs and Nacho Monreal at the club, Jaydon had a spell at Crystal Palace, which included u21’s appearances.

After finding himself stuck as a free agent and lacking options, Jaydon approached UK Football Trials for a second chance and the opportunity to get back into the game.

“I’ve been to a few UK Football Trial events this year and I’m just really grateful for the opportunity, I believe everyone deserves a second chance,” said Jaydon.

He added: “UK Football Trials have a great setup, the coaching is bang on and there are a lot of talented players there who like me just need a chance. The standard of coaching was similar to what I experienced at Palace and it really is a great platform for players with all the scouts watching.  If you want to get scouted there is no where better than UK Football Trials.”
