Youth National Team Striker To Get Reading FC Decision This Week
A Striker who has represented the Polish National Side at youth level will find out this week if he will be offered a contract with Reading Football Club.
Brian Galach, who was called up to the Poland u16’s squad last year, attended a trial with the Premier League hopefuls at the beginning of May, after he was scouted at our event in London.
The exciting forward has been on our books since his 7-year-stint with Leyton Orient came to an end last season and it’s safe to say he’s bounced back by earning trials with several clubs including with Stoke City, Birmingham City and Blackpool United.
However he will now be hoping that Reading – who are currently vying for promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs – will be the club he can call home for the next few years.
Earlier this month Brian was invited to spend a day at the club’s training ground, to complete speed tests in the morning and play in trial matches in the afternoon.
Brian’s Dad, Robert, described it as a “very good opportunity” and revealed that they will be informed of the club’s decision on May 19th.
“He played in a match with the rest of the u17’s trialists and some academy boys,” said Robert.
“He did well playing number 9 and scored a goal. It’s just a case of waiting to see what they say now, but he was very happy to get the chance.”
While searching for a club, Brian - who spent 2 years at Chelsea as a youngster – has been playing for the u18’s at Ryman League side Enfield Town, where he’s scored 9 goals in 3 games to date.
Away from his regular football training, Brian will often be found at his local athletics centre, doing sprints and working on his fitness.
When he had his trial with Stoke City last year he came out top of the fitness tests – higher than all the academy players at the time.
Former West Brom and Port Vale player Mark Grew, who coached Brian at our trials, described his as “an excellent prospect.”
“As a coach, you can see the three or four players that stand out for you quite early on,” said Mark, “Even in the warm up you could tell he had a good left and right foot.
“He was technically excellent in the session and then in the game he scored one and set up one; his pace and power is immense.
Mark added: “He’s an excellent prospect and I’m very hopeful that things will work out for him.”
Brian’s Dad, Robert, is optimistic that his son will find a club soon but also spoke of the pressure to get into an academy sooner rather than later.
“Reading is a very good academy, category one, and they are pushing for the Premier League so it means they will be looking for the best players, it’s a very good place to be,” he said.
“There is a lot of pressure on Brian at this age because he is getting older and this will be his last chance to get into an academy. There are other options of course, the back door - non-league - but he’s getting too old for the academy system now.”
Robert added: “UK Football Trials have helped him a lot, he has been scouted every time he’s been to a trial and for me it is the best company in the UK for helping boys find a club.”
We wish Brian all the best when he finds out the decision from Reading this week and we will be sure to bring you updates as we get them.
