Germian Mutombo, Aged 23, Trial with Newcastle Town
Germain Mutombo, 23, has had a trial with Newcastle Town after attending our trial in Manchester in February. Originally from Belgium, where he played semi-pro level in the past, the 6ft 2’ striker displayed skill, power and an eye for goal to the on-looking scouts. He trains in the gym 2-3 times a week to keep fit and works on his strength as it’s a big part of his game, being a striker. Germain trains once a week with his local team and tops up his fitness by training alone as well.
Speaking about his trial with UK Football Trials, he said: "It was a physically hard trial, but it was great. For me it was a really good session and I really enjoyed it – it was organised and well managed. This is a fantastic chance for players who want to have that opportunity to play in front of scouts and top coaches. The drills are made to help us show what we can do and take the chance to show off a bit – it’s a great setup."
