Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers took 12-year-old Austin Smart on trial just 24 hours after seeing him at our event in February.
We caught up with Austin’s mum, Sarah, who spoke to us about his experiences at the club and what this means for his fledgling football career.
“He’s had a couple of games for Wolves,” Sarah revealed.
“There was a game a couple of weeks ago where he played well and enjoyed it, then there was another game in Croydon against an u15’s side and it was quite challenging for him.”
Sarah added: “This is the second time Austin has had a trial with Wolves through UK Football Trials and it was a good experience for him, he battled for every ball.”
Austin was also scouted by Millwall at our event in West London and they too have made contact about the possibility of seeing him again.
“Millwall got in touch and said about getting him in for a trial soon,” explained Sarah.
“He’s on a waiting list and we’re just waiting to hear about more details now – I’ve been really impressed with the scout there.”
UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Austin on being selected by two clubs at our trial, and wish him good luck for his pending trial with Millwall.
