Former Manchester United winger Ramone Blackett, brother of defender Tyler, is set for a week-long trial with Barnsley in July. Ahead of his return to football next month, we caught up with Ramone as he told us about his journey and the struggles he’s faced to get to where he is today. “I was at Man United for 8 years which were amazing, then one year, at the end of season review meeting, they told me they weren’t going to keep me on. I was devastated, Man United are the biggest club in the world and I didn’t know where to go from there, I’d been there my whole life. But in football you have to have a strong mindset because that’s part of it, so I was just focussed on finding somewhere new and playing football again.” Despite having to come to terms with his release from Manchester United, it wasn’t long until Ramone was back playing football again...

NEW Scotland Trials

Published Thursday 14th of January 2016 07:58 PM
For the first time ever, Scottish footballers will be given the chance to join “The Search” and be a part of UK Football Trials’ hunt for undiscovered talent. Players from the ages of 10 to 28 will be given the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of their heroes and step out on to the pitch at Falkirk Stadium, which holds close to 9,000 spectators. The stadium is home to last year’s Scottish Cup finalists Falkirk FC, who play in the Scottish Championship. An academy level coaching session followed by a match on the Falkirk Pitch will give trialists the chance to impress scouts from Scotland and Northern England, ranging from the Scottish Premiership and English Championship, through to the semi-professional tiers. Taking a successful model from England which has seen pro and semi club scouts taking details of 110 players at trials so far in 2015, scouts will be able to contact players who impress, giving them the dream chance of a trial at a pro club...

Marko Fyrad at just 11 years old and from Norway has impressed at his recent Man City trial. After starring at the UKFT trials in February and May, Marco was called for trial and impressed the club who have requested him back. We asked UKFT & Man City Academy coach John Fenton how he got on – “Marko did very well on his first session with Manchester City and I can reveal he has been invited back to train and play with the elite boys in September or October.” This is exciting news for Marko - a pacey left winger who scored a staggering 118 goals in his last season for his club. We asked his dad what his secret is and what advice he’d give to other players looking to make it – “Marko first kicked a ball at 4-years-old and the very first time he kicked it I thought “wow”. He had a natural ability straight away but he lives football - he trains almost every day and is always watching games on TV, watching tricks on YouTube, it’s all he does...
